• Used when making taps in mains having pressure over 90 psig (620 kPa)
• By its use, the boring bar can be forced down and a connection made against pressures as high as 250 psig (1725 kPa/17.25 bar)
• Also permits controlled withdrawal of the boring bar to prevent damage to the tool threads and shock to machine
